Week of 5/9/16

Ahoy!

Sorry for the late post! I was too excited to go play in the sun yesterday, and forgot to post ;/ My fault!

Reading: This week we are continuing our learning focused around legends. We diving in deep to a legend that looks to explain how rainbows were formed. This is tying in with what the students are learning in writing.

Writing: Students are using their knowledge from reading about legends to create their own legend. They have to pick a topic that they are trying to explain. Some topics were why giraffes have purple tongues, why an owl "whoo's" at night. Students should be on the rough draft phase of their writing.

Math: This week we are working on the different attributes of shapes. We are also talking about area and perimeter of different shapes. This is a very important unit for the students, and one of my favorite units to teach! We are having lots of fun learning with geoboards and different manipulatives. Next week we will be using tangrams!
